“ If You’re A Witch, Occultist, or Magician, Why Aren’t You Rich? “

How many times have you heard this one? Actually… how many times have you asked yourself this question?
In this post, I’m going to do my best to offer the long-time, studious, hard-working practitioner an explanation. This will not only answer the question for the disillusioned outsider challenging you, but it will simultaneously provide a higher level of understanding to those who actively beat themselves with this very stick—a habit that can have harmful effects on your spiritual and mental journey.

The Illusion of the Quick Financial Gain
First and foremost, I understand that the illusion of quick financial gain is the most popular attractor for starting a journey in Magick and the Occult. And I won’t BS you: it can be had once you attain a certain level of knowledge and understanding.
The problem is that people only focus on the first half of that statement and completely ignore the vital conclusion:
"...once you attain a certain level of knowledge and understanding."
Meaning, it is only after you learn how this information affects your life and the world around you—and exactly how and when to apply it—that you can begin to improve the quality of your reality.
But before we delve any deeper, we should clear up a few things: you do not need to become a Magician or Occultist to obtain wealth and riches. However, those who do obtain wealth and riches are actively using occult principles, whether they realize it or not. I will delve deeper into that in future posts (so make sure you follow this blog and brand everywhere).
What the Occult Actually Is (And Isn't)
For clarification, if you are reading this and think the Occult is strictly about demonic possession, symbolism, and casting spells to hurt people, then you are a victim of the internet and not a student of the mind.
The Occult is a broad range of fundamental topics studied to make sense of how the world works. I define it as the study of the connection and affectation of patterns in:
  • Mathematics & Science
  • Language & Sound
  • Nature & Health
  • The Universe within Humanity
This is not evil, and this should be taught to everyone. Instead, this information sits out in the open because the masses of people prefer an entertaining lie over scientific truths.
And yes, Occultists—with our disciplined approach to study—are indeed scientists. We measure, experiment, record data, track time, compare, test, analyze, and rinse and repeat our findings all day. That is the core of our study, and at the very least, that is how I teach.
Defining "Riches" Beyond the Mundane
Before anyone can declare they want to be rich or wealthy, they must know what wealth and riches actually are, because the Occultist surely holds a different perspective.
Wealth is measured in different ways for different things by different people, and so are riches. Are we talking about money, material objects, information, knowledge, or raw ability? How exactly are you defining “riches”?
When I formally began my study back in the early 1990s, I was not fueled by a desire to gain wealth or love. I was captivated by the simplest idea: that people had the inherent power to make things happen. That was the draw for me. Once the initial fear of what that meant subsided, I became obsessed with learning, reading, and studying. Casting spells wasn’t even a secondary interest at the time.
Plus, being born into an upper-middle-class background meant my economic baseline had been firmly established. This gave me the psychological cushion to actually learn and absorb my studies, as opposed to quickly performing scarcity-derived money spells out of desperation.
The Cold, Unfeeling Laws of Nature
No matter what lured you to the path, the initial reason one studies Magick and the Occult really doesn't matter. Science and nature, as cold and unfeeling as they are, do not respond to emotions or pleading; they respond entirely to how well you honor or dishonor their laws. They do not care if you are kind or loving, greedy or stingy. As long as your formula is correct, you will obtain what you’ve asked for.
This goes for deities as well, though it is common for people to anthropomorphize them. Still, they bless and curse indiscriminately—blessing the cruel and the patient equally, as long as all boxes are checked and the magical formula is correct.
So when it comes to wealth, this individualized path reminds us every step of the way that we all begin and end as solitary practitioners—no matter how many groups, covens, or orders we may join. Our Will is ours alone, and so are our choices.
On this path, you have the choice to become rich or poor financially. However, many practitioners surprisingly choose comfort and happiness instead, as they know that material increases require you to expend far more personal energy to achieve and maintain what you receive.
The Choice of the Solitary Practitioner
Secondly, such questions clarify who possesses genuine spiritual understanding versus who only has finite knowledge. Please make no mistake: with rising costs, everyone needs money to survive. Additionally, I’ll repeat that wealth and riches can be, and are, obtained on this path. Surely, I can attest to this due to what the application of my own knowledge has helped me—and still helps me—achieve. I regularly manifest goals that I hear people begging for every single day.
However, how much one wants to obtain is an individual choice, not an impossibility while on this path. Also, in a world with declining mental and physical health, wealth is measured in so many ways that money may not even be a practitioner's first request. Furthermore, money and happiness (and no one mentions happiness as a success marker anymore) are simply end results—byproducts of growing properly on this path.
The Danger of the Magickal Band-Aid
Lastly, Magick is a band-aid. It can bring you all the temporary love, money, and health with which you may, or may not, be energetically matched.
This volatile cycle can be observed in certain practitioners who undergo extreme, unstable changes—such as starting with nothing, receiving a massive increase in their quality of life, and then crashing straight back down to nothing. Or, they receive a large request and later appear as if they are being punished for how they’ve handled their manifestation.
The lesson here, and everywhere, is clear: if you want wealth and riches, you better be prepared and learn how to receive, manage, and maintain them—or else you will surely lose everything. This same rule applies to love, partnership, health, and every other area of life. It is this exact weight of knowledge that many casual practitioners fear to tread, leaving finite fools to rush in blindly.

Spiritual Unions vs Marriages: The Hidden Energetic Difference

Spiritual unions have always captivated me because they are blatant examples of spiritual energy’s resonance power. When two people are drawn together, they unknowingly emanate the essence of their connection outwardly, without provocation or intention. Others can feel the shift in frequency just by standing within a few feet of them.
Every couple hopes to achieve such consistent energetic resonance, wishing that what they experience in the honeymoon phase will last forever. But it often doesn't. Instead, the current tapers down, and in the most unfortunate ways, the shimmer completely wears off. This type of energetic congruence is a rare sight, yet it is drastically misrecognized and undervalued.

The Institution of Marriage
Now, I would never speak down on the institution of marriage. I believe it can be highly beneficial to both individuals and societies, as long as it is understood for what it truly is—an institution. I don't need to dive into the deep history of marriage here, but a quick look at its historical purpose helps clarify the premise of this post.
Nevertheless, as someone on this path who has spent decades listening to stories about love spells and misaligned relationships, I can effortlessly say this:
You don’t want to seek a marriage if what you truly desire is a loving relationship and partner. Instead, you should find your spiritual partner.
Spiritual unions and institutional marriages are completely different relationships, ordained by different sources and held together by completely different forces. It is wise to understand both before assuming what you will get from them.
Spiritually, we know we must never underestimate the power of words. If we are mixing blood, breath, sweat, and emotion into a binding contract, that contract will inevitably intensify and bring the exact meaning of those words to life within our reality.
The Anatomy of an Energetic Mismatch
The standard process of marriage typically unfolds like this: person meets person, they begin courting, they physically intertwine, and eventually, they marry. Depending on the how and why they met, they may experience raw lust, passion, and infatuation at various points. They perceive this as falling in love, which temporarily raises their vibration and attraction to one another. For many, this is "the fun part."
Eventually, however, this current falls flat—especially if these energies are felt in different measures, at different times, and for different reasons by each individual. This mismatch creates an energetic imbalance that is felt internally and eventually manifests in the physical world. Once this gap widens, it is incredibly difficult to repair.
We see this incongruity when:
  • Unwarranted arguments arise frequently
  • Deep-seated insecurities manifest outwardly
  • Scarcity and abandonment issues kick in
  • The ego steps in to regain power
This is a massive sign of a mismatched union, no matter what path you walk or what god you worship. Still, many will argue that this is just part of being in a relationship and that nothing is perfect.
Why Love Spells Can't Fix the Crack
But here is the quiet part out loud that everyone knows subconsciously: these struggles are signs that you are forcing a relationship to work based on energetic incongruence. From a mundane perspective, swap "energetic incongruence" for words like mismatched values, backgrounds, or emotional, physical, and psychological alignment.
Typically, people see these cracks as a sign to get out their relationship toolkit and go to work. However, those of us on this path should thank our guiding forces instead. We must not cast a spell to force a relationship to work or bend a partner into who we want them to be. We should view the friction as an early protective sign that we are with the wrong person, and that the right partner is still out there waiting for us.
And no—no love spell can repair this.
The Mechanics of a True Spiritual Union
Spiritual unions occur quite differently. They commonly happen under unconventional or inconvenient circumstances, sometimes when one or both parties are already involved with others. These unions are never one-sided, forced, or built on coveting and imposing one’s Will onto another. Instead, they are about a shared frequency between two people that they themselves cannot alter.
Not only is this frequency intense, but it is subconsciously picked up by outsiders. Sometimes people mistakenly mistake this high vibration for mere lust, assuming the two have been physically intimate even when they haven't. This is simply society’s way of trying to make sense of a rare, high-vibrational energetic field that is usually only generated through private intimacy.
The Spiritual Twin Mirror
What makes spiritual unions so fundamentally different from marriages is that their connection was not humanly ordained. They do not require a community or third parties to foster, manage, or police their relationship. The rules and guidelines are already embedded within the connection itself for both individuals.
The best way to explain this is that the connection acts as a perfect spiritual mirror:
  1. Both parties know that to lie to the other is to lie to themselves.
  2. To hurt the other is to hurt themselves.
  3. Whatever they do to their partner, they do to themselves—and they often feel the rebound more intensely.
Even without a constant physical connection, two people in a spiritual union are spiritually conjoined like twins. As time goes on, they develop shared senses and a direct intuition regarding the other's feelings. They literally become One.
Evolving Past Normalized Suffering
For clarity's sake, some institutional marriages can experience moments of a spiritual union, and spiritual unions can certainly choose to enter the institution of marriage. The point is that these are two entirely different categories of relationships, and instinctively, we all know this.

We must also recognize that each and every one of us has a spiritual, energetic partner out there, and much of the suffering we allow in relationships simply doesn't have to be. We must stop getting comfortable suffering for love. Society should not normalize this pain, as it only pushes us further away from our human and spiritual evolutionary growth.

Law of Attraction vs Magick: Which is Better for Manifestation?

I recently spoke about the differences between the Law of Attraction and Magick, as there are many, and the Magician should know which method better suits their needs.

Understanding the Mechanics of the Law of Attraction
Firstly, one must understand that the Law of Attraction is about utilizing a universal law to your benefit, based on the understanding that you attract everything into your life—and this is 100% correct.
The Law of Attraction shines a spotlight on an individual’s mindset so they can begin to understand the hows and whys of their life's current state. Its central focus is solely to demonstrate the correlation between one’s mindset and how it effortlessly creates everything in one’s reality, utilizing emotion as the magnetic pull.

How Magick Differs: Bypassing Causality
On the other hand, Magick, spells, and rituals are used to change events or states in accordance with one’s Will. This operates completely differently from the Law of Attraction; Magick can bypass causality and directly target outcomes to produce swift changes in a magician's life.
While the Law of Attraction focuses on origins and causes—showing the deep connection between your state of mind and your experiences—Magick can act as a temporary band-aid, leaving the root cause untouched.
The Occultist Perspective: All is Mind
The Occultist believes, “Change your mind, change your life,” because they understand that the mind and life are inextricably linked, and this is where true power lies. After all, All is Mind, and Mind is everything.
This is not to downplay the power of Magick, though its effects can be temporary, limiting, or even devastating depending on how it is directed. However, Magick is ground-level knowledge when it comes to altering one’s life. The thorough knowledge of manipulating natural laws yields a much more profound effect, shaping not just one’s immediate environment, but generations, legacies, and space itself.
Addressing the Critics and "Woo-Woo" Skepticism
Many claim the Law of Attraction is a "woo-woo" concept with little bearing on the physical world. However, I’ve noticed that those who dismiss it have rarely contemplated how the law actually functions, nor have they recognized the simplest examples of it operating in their own lives.
Critics often bring up global catastrophes or tragedies involving children to sway others to their side. Yet those events, no matter how heartbreaking and unfortunate, do not override the precision or effectiveness of this universal law.
When to Use Magick vs. The Law of Attraction
So when it comes to Magick and the Law of Attraction, which should you use, and for what purpose? The answer is to use both, neither, or simply utilize their effects when necessary.
  • For Complete Lifestyle Changes: When aiming for complete lifestyle changes and creating an entirely new mental environment, rely on the Law of Attraction. The focus here is recreating your world from the inside out through total mind immersion.
  • For Immediate or Quick Results: For anything requiring a swift, localized result, use Magick.
A Direct Comparison: The Wealth Frequency
To offer another comparison: a person who truly utilizes the Law of Attraction becomes one with that which they desire. They become smooth and fluid with their intentions, fitting into the frequency of their goals.
Consider the difference between someone who wants to be rich but thinks poor—living in a scarce environment, consuming a poor diet, wasting time on low-vibrational internet gossip, and surrounding themselves with people who mirror that exact mentality—versus someone who focuses entirely on self-improvement, studies, the arts, advancement, wealth, education, science, travel, health, and the fineries of life. The latter will naturally attract wealth, while the former will always feel disconnected and ultimately repel it.
A poor-minded individual can cast a spell for wealth, but depending on their energetic match to prosperity and their skill level at ritual work, any results they achieve will likely be short-lived. Ultimately, we attract who and what we are. Because All is Mind, wealth must take root there first before it can manifest outwardly. As within, so without. These are not clichés; they are universal truths.
